Aave Users Receive Massive Support from Industry Leaders Following Recent Crypto Hack

The world of decentralized finance has come together to support Aave, a prominent lending protocol, in its efforts to recover from significant losses due to the Kelp DAO exploit. This broad recovery effort, dubbed 'DeFi United,' has garnered around $303 million in commitments as of Monday, according to its website, with much of the capital awaiting governance approval. The exploit, which affected rsETH markets and posed risks to lending positions on Aave, has prompted a highly coordinated industry response. Many participants in the DeFi ecosystem have a vested interest in ensuring that markets function as expected, as they are deeply connected to DeFi through infrastructure, capital, or user access. Aave is at the forefront of the recovery effort, with a proposed plan to allocate up to 250,000 ETH. Other contributors, including Aave's founder Stani Kulechov, have also pledged significant amounts of ETH. The response has extended beyond Aave, with companies like Consensys committing up to 30,000 ETH in financial support. Smaller contributions have also been made by various entities, including Lido, EtherFi, and Mantle. Some participants have opted to make deposits into Aave, while others have supplied funds from their treasuries. The list of participants continues to grow, with entities such as Ethena, LayerZero, and Frax Finance also involved. The breadth of participation highlights the widespread impact of the exploit across DeFi and demonstrates a unified effort to protect users and restore normal market conditions.
