Ondo Finance Introduces Proxy Voting for Tokenized Equity Holders
In a bid to enhance the tokenized equity experience, Ondo Finance has introduced a proxy voting feature, allowing investors to participate in corporate decision-making. This innovation enables holders of over 250 tokenized securities to review company documents and cast their votes via Broadridge Financial Solutions' ProxyVote system. By logging in with their crypto wallets, investors can access tools and documents typically reserved for traditional brokerage accounts. The introduction of proxy voting addresses a significant gap in tokenized equities, which often lacked basic governance rights. Although Ondo's tokens do not grant direct shareholder rights, this new system allows investors to express their preferences, which Ondo can then apply when voting on the underlying shares. According to Matthieu de Vergnes, Ondo's global head of institutional, this move aligns with the company's vision of making traditional financial assets more accessible. The partnership with Broadridge, a leading processor of proxy votes in traditional markets, marks a significant step in extending its infrastructure to blockchain systems. Danielle Gurrieri, senior vice president and head of product management at Broadridge, believes that providing investors with the same level of auditability, transparency, and compliance will increase trust and scalability in the tokenized world.
