Bitcoin Price Holds Above Crucial Level Ahead of Warsh Hearing

Bitcoin is currently trading with a positive outlook above the $75,000 threshold, a level previously identified by CoinDesk as vital for bulls to maintain their grip on the market. However, some observers are advising caution, noting that prices must remain above this level through Wednesday, when the U.S.-Iran ceasefire is set to expire. Analysts at Marex cautioned that the market is pricing in two potential paths - either an extension and de-escalation of the conflict or a renewed escalation and increased oil prices. This uncertainty could lead to rapid price fluctuations. If the conflict escalates, oil prices could surge beyond the March high of $119, potentially causing a downturn in Asian and global equity markets. The question remains whether bitcoin will continue to demonstrate resilience or come under pressure alongside the broader market. As of the time of writing, no Iranian delegation had departed for talks in Pakistan, and President Donald Trump has warned of a significant escalation if the ceasefire ends without a deal. Additionally, the nomination hearing for Federal Reserve Chair, Kevin Warsh, is scheduled for Tuesday. Warsh is known for his stance as an 'inflation hawk,' having opposed interest-rate cuts and quantitative easing following the 2008 financial crisis. His remarks during the hearing could potentially move markets, particularly if they reinforce expectations of policy easing. In the broader market, major cryptocurrencies such as ether, solana, and XRP have seen modest gains of less than 2% over the past 24 hours, underperforming bitcoin. Smaller tokens like XLM and TON have seen more significant gains, exceeding 5% each. The CoinDesk Memecoin Index has also risen by over 3%. Notably, the DeFi Select Index added 2%, despite the industry-wide fallout from the weekend hack of KelpDAO, which saw the attacker drain rsETH, a widely used liquid restaking token. Decentralized lender Aave has been hit the hardest, with the total value of crypto assets locked on its platform falling to $16 billion, a decline of nearly $10 billion since before the hack. Aave's native token, AAVE, has declined by 18% to $93 since the hack, while open interest in futures tied to the token has reached a record high, pointing to potential increased volatility ahead.
