Ondo Finance Introduces Proxy Voting for $700 Million in Tokenized Equities

In a significant move, Ondo Finance is bridging the gap between tokenized equities and their traditional counterparts by introducing proxy voting for holders of its $700 million tokenized equities. This feature, developed in partnership with Broadridge Financial Solutions, enables investors to review company filings and cast their votes through the ProxyVote system, thus participating in corporate governance. With this addition, Ondo's platform now offers over 250 tokenized securities, allowing investors to access documents and governance tools typically reserved for traditional brokerage accounts. The integration of proxy voting is a crucial step forward for tokenized equities, which have experienced rapid growth, with the sector now holding over $1.1 billion in value. As the largest issuer in this sector, Ondo's introduction of proxy voting addresses a significant gap in governance rights for tokenized equity offerings. According to Matthieu de Vergnes, Ondo's global head of institutional, this development aligns with the company's vision of making traditional financial assets more accessible, combining the benefits of on-chain assets with the governance of underlying assets. Broadridge's involvement in this initiative marks an extension of its infrastructure to support both digital and conventional assets, aiming to provide investors with the same level of auditability, transparency, and compliance, thereby enhancing trust in the tokenized ecosystem.
