Ondo Finance Introduces Proxy Voting for $700 Million Worth of Tokenized Equities

Ondo Finance is bridging the gap between tokenized equities and traditional ones by introducing a proxy voting feature, enabling investors to participate in corporate decision-making. In partnership with Broadridge Financial Solutions, this feature allows holders of over 250 tokenized securities to review company documents and cast votes through the ProxyVote system. Investors can access these features using their crypto wallets, typically only available in traditional brokerage accounts. The introduction of proxy voting is significant as tokenized equities have grown rapidly, now holding over $1.1 billion in value, with Ondo being the largest issuer with over $700 million in stock and ETF tokens. By adding proxy voting, Ondo's tokens now offer a level of governance rights previously lacking, allowing investors to express preferences that Ondo can apply when voting on the underlying shares. According to Matthieu de Vergnes, Ondo's global head of institutional, this development aligns with Ondo's vision of making traditional assets more accessible, combining the benefits of on-chain assets with the governance of underlying assets. Broadridge's extension of its infrastructure to blockchain systems aims to support both digital and traditional assets within the same workflows, providing investors with increased transparency, auditability, and compliance.
