Britain Courts Crypto Exchange Bybit in Bid to Replicate UAE's Innovative Edge
In an apparent effort to replicate the success of Dubai and the UAE in attracting major cryptocurrency players, UK economic development officials have invited Bybit's leadership to London. Bybit CEO Ben Zhou revealed that the UK is eager to lure large businesses to establish a presence and create jobs, with a focus on upcoming pro-crypto legislation. Zhou's company, founded in 2018 and currently headquartered in Dubai, is the second-largest crypto exchange globally. The UK aims to mirror the UAE's ability to attract smaller crypto companies, following the lead of giants like Bybit and Binance. Zhou noted that his meetings with the Financial Conduct Authority and House of Lords representatives coincided with UK Fintech Week and a Treasury plan to overhaul payment systems using stablecoins and tokenization. The invitation's timing is noteworthy, given the UAE's recent instability and the resulting outflow of companies and capital, which the UK hopes to capitalize on.
