Ondo Finance Introduces Proxy Voting for $700 Million in Tokenized Equities

Ondo Finance is revolutionizing the landscape of tokenized equities by introducing a feature that enables investors to participate in corporate decision-making. The new proxy voting system, developed in collaboration with Broadridge Financial Solutions, allows holders of over 250 tokenized securities to review company filings and cast their votes via Broadridge's ProxyVote platform. Investors can access these features using their crypto wallets, thereby bridging the gap between traditional brokerage accounts and blockchain-based assets. The introduction of proxy voting is significant, as tokenized equities have been growing rapidly, with over $1.1 billion in value locked, and Ondo is at the forefront with over $700 million in tokenized stocks and ETFs on its Global Markets platform. By incorporating proxy voting, Ondo is addressing a critical gap in governance rights for these assets, enabling investors to influence corporate decisions indirectly. According to Matthieu de Vergnes, Ondo's global head of institutional, this move aligns with the company's vision of making traditional financial assets more accessible and beneficial. Broadridge, a leading processor of proxy votes in traditional markets, is extending its capabilities to blockchain systems, aiming to create a seamless experience for both digital and conventional assets. This development is expected to enhance the scalability and trustworthiness of the tokenized ecosystem, as noted by Danielle Gurrieri, senior vice president and head of product management at Broadridge.
