Bitcoin Trades Above Crucial Level as Market Awaits Warsh Hearing

Bitcoin is currently trading with a positive outlook above the $75,000 threshold, a level previously identified by CoinDesk as vital for bulls to maintain control. Despite this, observers are advising caution, pointing out that prices must remain above this level through Wednesday, when the U.S.-Iran ceasefire is set to expire. Analysts at Marex noted that the market is pricing in two possible paths - extension and de-escalation versus renewed escalation and oil stress - which could lead to rapid price movements. The expiration of the ceasefire and the potential for escalation could drive oil prices above $119, potentially causing a downturn in Asian and global equity markets. It remains to be seen whether bitcoin will remain resilient or come under pressure along with the broader market. As of the latest update, no Iranian delegation has departed for talks in Pakistan, and President Donald Trump has warned of a significant escalation if the ceasefire ends without a deal. Additionally, analysts are watching Kevin Warsh's nomination hearing for Federal Reserve chair, scheduled for Tuesday. Warsh, known for his hawkish stance on inflation, opposed interest-rate cuts and quantitative easing following the 2008 crash. His remarks during the hearing could act as a catalyst for market movements, particularly if they reinforce expectations of policy easing. In the broader market, major cryptocurrencies such as ether, solana, and XRP have seen modest gains of less than 2% over the past 24 hours, underperforming bitcoin. Smaller tokens like XLM and TON have seen more significant increases, with gains of over 5% each. The CoinDesk Memecoin Index has risen by over 3%. Notably, the DeFi Select Index added 2%, despite the industry-wide fallout from the weekend hack of KelpDAO, which saw the attacker drain rsETH, a widely used liquid restaking token. Decentralized lender Aave has been significantly impacted, with the total value of crypto assets locked on its platform falling to $16 billion, a decline of nearly $10 billion since the hack. Aave's native token, AAVE, has declined by 18% to $93, while open interest in futures tied to the token has hit a record high, pointing to potential volatility ahead.
