The report, authored by a panel of renowned cryptographers and academics, stresses that although today's blockchains are secure, the advent of a fault-tolerant quantum computer could potentially break widely used encryption. This has sparked concerns among major crypto ecosystems, with some already exploring quantum-resistant solutions. Google researchers have estimated that a sufficiently advanced quantum computer could break Bitcoin's cryptography, prompting the Ethereum Foundation to propose new types of digital signatures and Solana to experiment with quantum-resistant wallet designs.
