Cardano Developer Submits Reduced Funding Proposal for 2026

The company behind the Cardano blockchain is seeking to reduce its reliance on community funding. Input Output has submitted nine proposals for a total of $46.8 million, focusing on scaling the network and expanding into Bitcoin DeFi. This reduced request is part of a plan to phase out dependency on community funds, aiming for the company to sustain itself on its own revenue. The proposals include a consensus upgrade called Leios, which is expected to increase Cardano's transaction processing capacity, and a system called Pogun, which aims to bring Bitcoin-based decentralized finance to Cardano. The voting process, which runs through May 24, will test the Cardano governance system and determine whether Input Output's requests will be approved.
