Bitcoin Bull Case Gains Momentum with Nearly $1 Billion in ETF Inflows Amid DeFi Concerns

The current market trends indicate a positive outlook for bitcoin, currently trading at $76,252.98, despite recent developments in Iran and DeFi hacks. U.S.-listed spot ETFs saw an influx of $663 million on Friday, marking the highest intake since January 15, with total inflows reaching $996 million for the week. This surge in investment signals robust interest from institutions in the largest cryptocurrency. For a significant price increase to occur, this trend must be sustained. According to Timothy Misir, head of research at BRN, consistent ETF inflows are crucial as they signify structural demand, whereas intermittent flows may indicate tactical positioning. Bitcoin's price has remained relatively stable above $75,000 after reaching highs of over $78,000 on Friday. Similar stability is observed in other major tokens like ether, XRP, and Solana. The DeFi platform Aave's token has dropped 1% to $90 following the KelpDAO hack, with the DeFi dominance rate holding steady at around 3%. Alex Kuptsikevich, chief market analyst at FxPro, attributes the pressure on bitcoin to negative reactions in stock markets to news about Iran, which has reduced risk appetite, causing BTC to lag behind equities. The U.S. seizure of an Iranian cargo ship has further impacted market sentiment. Traders are actively building short positions, betting against a breakout, which could lead to a 'short squeeze' if prices remain steady, forcing traders to cover their bearish bets and potentially driving spot prices higher. The weekly price swings in Solana, with a notable level at $95.16, indicate sustained bearish sentiment and potential for deeper losses if the token fails to climb back above this level with strong trading volumes.
