UK Courts Crypto Exchange Bybit in Bid to Replicate UAE's Innovative Edge
In a move to replicate the success of the United Arab Emirates in attracting cryptocurrency businesses, UK economic development officials have invited Bybit's leadership to London. Bybit CEO Ben Zhou met with government-linked bodies, including the Financial Conduct Authority and the House of Lords, to discuss the UK's eagerness to attract major businesses and create jobs. The UK aims to establish itself as a hub for crypto innovation, following the lead of Dubai, where Bybit is currently based. Bybit's presence in Dubai has drawn smaller crypto companies to the region, a phenomenon the UK hopes to replicate. Zhou's meetings coincided with UK Fintech Week and the Treasury's plans to revamp payment systems using stablecoins and tokenization. The invitation is seen as an attempt by the UK to win back businesses and investment that have flowed to the UAE in recent years, particularly in the wake of the US-Israel war and the resulting instability in the region.
