UK Courts Crypto Exchange Bybit in Bid to Replicate UAE's Innovation Success

In a move to replicate the success of the United Arab Emirates in attracting crypto businesses, UK economic development officials have invited Bybit's leadership to London for discussions. Bybit CEO Ben Zhou revealed that the UK is eager to attract major companies and create jobs, with a focus on pro-crypto regulation. Having founded Bybit in 2018 and relocated its headquarters to Dubai in 2022, Zhou noted that the arrival of major crypto players like Bybit and Binance has drawn smaller companies to the region, a trend the UK hopes to emulate. Zhou's meetings with the Financial Conduct Authority and House of Lords coincided with UK Fintech Week and a Treasury plan to integrate stablecoins and tokenization into payment systems. The invitation is seen as an attempt by the UK to win back businesses and investment that have flowed to the UAE, particularly in light of recent geopolitical tensions in the region.
