Ondo Finance Introduces Proxy Voting for $700 Million in Tokenized Equities

In a bid to bridge the gap between tokenized equities and traditional stocks, Ondo Finance has introduced a proxy voting feature for holders of its extensive range of tokenized securities. This innovation, developed in collaboration with Broadridge Financial Solutions, enables investors to review company filings and cast their votes through the ProxyVote system, thereby fostering greater participation in corporate governance. By logging in with their crypto wallets, investors can now access a suite of governance tools and documents, typically reserved for traditional brokerage accounts. The introduction of proxy voting is a significant milestone, as tokenized equities have experienced rapid growth, with over $1.1 billion in value locked, more than tripling in size over the past year. As the largest issuer in this sector, with over $700 million in tokenized stocks and ETFs on its Global Markets platform, Ondo is poised to revolutionize the landscape of traditional financial assets. The inclusion of proxy voting addresses a long-standing gap in governance rights for tokenized equities, which, although separate from the underlying shares, now allow investors to express their preferences. This development aligns with Ondo's vision of making traditional financial assets more accessible, combining the benefits of being on-chain with the governance of underlying assets. Broadridge, a leading processor of proxy votes in traditional markets, is extending its infrastructure to support blockchain systems, aiming to create a seamless experience for both digital and conventional assets. By providing the same level of auditability, transparency, and compliance, this move is expected to enhance the scalability and trust of the tokenized world, ultimately benefiting end investors.
