UK Courts Crypto Exchange Bybit to Replicate UAE's Innovative Edge
In a bid to replicate the success of Dubai and the UAE in attracting cryptocurrency businesses, UK economic development officials invited Bybit's leadership to London for meetings. Bybit CEO Ben Zhou stated that the UK is eager to attract major businesses, create jobs, and discuss upcoming pro-crypto legislation. Founded in 2018 by Zhou, Bybit relocated its headquarters to Dubai from Singapore in 2022 and is now the second-largest crypto exchange, according to CoinGecko. The UK aims to emulate the UAE's ability to attract smaller crypto companies, which followed in the wake of major players like Bybit and Binance. Zhou met with the Financial Conduct Authority and representatives of the House of Lords during UK Fintech Week, as the UK Treasury plans to revamp payment systems using stablecoins and tokenization. The invitation is seen as an attempt by the UK to win back companies and investment that have flowed to the UAE, particularly in light of recent geopolitical tensions in the region.
