DeFi Leaders Unite to Support Aave Users After Massive Crypto Hack
The decentralized finance world is witnessing an unprecedented level of cooperation in response to a recent massive crypto hack. Aave, a leading lending protocol, is at the forefront of a broad recovery effort, with hundreds of millions of dollars in commitments pouring in from across the industry. Dubbed 'DeFi United,' this initiative has raised approximately $303 million in commitments as of Monday, according to its website, with much of the capital pending governance approval. The exploit, which affected rsETH markets and created risk across lending positions on Aave, has prompted a coordinated industry response. Aave Labs, alongside other key players, is working to restore normal market conditions and support users. The effort has drawn in capital and credit commitments from major industry players, including Consensys, which has agreed to commit up to 30,000 ETH in financial support. Other contributors include Lido, EtherFi, and Mantle, which have proposed allocating significant amounts of stETH and ETH to support users and limit bad debt. The list of participants continues to grow, with entities such as Ethena, LayerZero, and Frax Finance also contributing to the effort. The breadth of participation highlights the widespread impact of the exploit across DeFi and underscores the importance of cooperation in times of crisis. As the Ethereum ecosystem comes together to support Aave users, it is clear that the industry is committed to protecting users and strengthening the infrastructure that underpins DeFi.
