North Korea's Involvement in Crypto Hacking There is evidence suggesting that North Korea-linked hackers were involved in the Kelp DAO breach, marking an evolution in their tactics. Aave's Exposure to the Kelp DAO Hack The attacker deposited 89,567 rsETH into Aave as collateral, borrowing approximately $190 million in ETH and related assets. This has left Aave vulnerable to collateral with potentially impaired backing. Aave Labs has taken swift action to mitigate the risk, freezing rsETH markets and halting new borrowing against the asset. The outcome depends on how Kelp DAO addresses the shortfall, with possible scenarios including a 15% depegging of the rsETH token or more severe consequences if losses are isolated to specific networks.
