Bitcoin Holds Above Crucial Level as Traders Await Warsh Hearing and Iran Ceasefire Deadline
Bitcoin is currently trading with a positive trend above the $75,000 threshold, a level previously identified by CoinDesk as vital for bulls to maintain their grip on the market. However, market observers are advising caution, emphasizing the need for prices to remain above this level through Wednesday, when the U.S.-Iran ceasefire is scheduled to end. Analysts at Marex noted that the market must consider two possible paths: an extension and de-escalation of the conflict, or renewed escalation and increased oil prices. This uncertainty could lead to significant price fluctuations. An escalation of the conflict could push oil prices above the March high of $119, potentially causing Asian and global equity markets to decline sharply. It remains to be seen whether bitcoin will continue to show resilience, as it did during the March conflict when it held steady around $70,000. As of the latest update, no Iranian delegation has departed for the talks in Pakistan, and President Donald Trump has warned of a significant escalation in the conflict if the ceasefire ends without a deal. Another key event on the horizon is the nomination hearing for Federal Reserve Chair, Kevin Warsh, scheduled for Tuesday. Warsh is known for his hawkish stance on inflation and has previously opposed interest-rate cuts and quantitative easing. His comments during the hearing could have a significant impact on the market, particularly if they reinforce expectations of policy easing. In the broader market, major cryptocurrencies such as ether, solana, and XRP have seen gains of less than 2% over the past 24 hours, underperforming bitcoin. However, smaller tokens like XLM and TON have risen by more than 5% each, and the CoinDesk Memecoin Index has increased by over 3%. The DeFi Select Index has also added 2%, despite the recent hack of KelpDAO, which saw the attacker drain rsETH, a widely used liquid restaking token. Decentralized lender Aave has been severely impacted, with the total value of crypto assets locked on its platform falling to $16 billion, a decline of nearly $10 billion since before the hack. Aave's native token, AAVE, has declined 18% to $93, while open interest in futures tied to the token has hit a record high, indicating potential for further volatility.
