Jane Street Seeks Dismissal of Terraform Lawsuit Related to UST-LUNA Collapse
Jane Street has requested a US court to dismiss a lawsuit filed by Terraform Labs' bankruptcy estate, denying claims that the firm contributed to the 2022 collapse of the TerraUSD stablecoin and its sister token, Luna. In its filing, Jane Street argues that the lawsuit is an attempt to deflect responsibility for the Terra ecosystem's failure, which wiped out approximately $40 billion in value. The firm asserts that the case has no merit and that the core issues surrounding Terra's collapse have already been resolved in court, citing cases against Terraform founder Do Kwon, who has been found guilty of conspiracy and wire fraud. Jane Street maintains that it had no involvement in Terraform's alleged fraud scheme and that the lawsuit is an attempt to extract funds to compensate for Terraform's own misconduct. The lawsuit, filed by Terraform administrator Todd Snyder, accuses Jane Street of insider trading, alleging that the firm used confidential information to trade ahead of significant market moves. However, Jane Street disputes these claims, denying any role in the collapse and arguing that Terraform's actions, not its own, led to the downfall of the Terra ecosystem.
