DeFi Leaders Unite to Rescue Aave Users After Massive Crypto Hack
The decentralized finance community is coming together to respond to a recent crisis, with top industry leaders contributing significant capital and credit commitments to a recovery fund. Aave, a major lending protocol, is at the center of this effort, which has drawn in around $303 million in commitments as of Monday. The response, dubbed 'DeFi United,' aims to support users and restore normal market conditions following a significant exploit. Aave itself is allocating up to 250,000 ETH as part of the recovery, while other contributors, including Consensys and its founder Joseph Lubin, are committing up to 30,000 ETH in financial support. The effort has also drawn smaller contributions from across the community, including Lido, EtherFi, and Mantle, with many more entities expected to join in. The breadth of participation highlights the widespread impact of the exploit and the importance of coordinated action in the DeFi ecosystem.
