Under the proposed law, political parties, candidates, and other entities would be prohibited from accepting cryptocurrency donations, with recipients given 30 days to return any such contributions. The bill's progress comes despite initial questions raised by Conservative lawmakers, who had previously expressed support for cryptocurrency. However, the issue of crypto donations did not become a major point of contention, reflecting the relatively limited use of cryptocurrency in Canadian politics to date.
