Ondo Finance Introduces Proxy Voting for $700 Million in Tokenized Equities

In a bid to bridge the gap between traditional and tokenized equities, Ondo Finance has introduced a proxy voting feature for holders of its extensive range of tokenized securities. This development enables investors to engage in corporate governance by reviewing company filings and submitting their voting preferences via Broadridge's ProxyVote system. With over 250 tokenized securities available on the platform, investors can now access critical documents and governance tools, typically reserved for traditional brokerage accounts, using their crypto wallets. The introduction of proxy voting is a significant step forward for tokenized equities, which have experienced rapid growth, with over $1.1 billion in value locked, more than tripling in size over the past year. As the largest issuer in this sector, Ondo's move to introduce proxy voting aims to provide investors with greater control and participation in corporate decision-making. According to Matthieu de Vergnes, Ondo's global head of institutional, this development aligns with the company's vision to make traditional financial assets more accessible, combining the benefits of on-chain transactions with the governance rights associated with underlying assets. Broadridge, a leading provider of proxy voting services in traditional markets, is extending its infrastructure to support blockchain-based assets, with the goal of creating a seamless experience for both digital and conventional assets. The introduction of proxy voting is expected to enhance the scalability and trustworthiness of the tokenized asset space, providing investors with increased transparency, auditability, and compliance.
