UK Attempts to Lure Crypto Exchange Bybit to London to Replicate UAE's Innovative Spirit
In a bid to replicate the success of Dubai and the United Arab Emirates in attracting cryptocurrency businesses, UK economic development officials have invited Bybit's leadership to London. Bybit CEO Ben Zhou revealed that the UK government is eager to attract major companies and create jobs, with forthcoming pro-crypto regulations on the horizon. Zhou's meetings with government-linked bodies, including the Financial Conduct Authority and the House of Lords, coincided with UK Fintech Week and a Treasury plan to overhaul payment systems using stablecoins and tokenization. The UK's efforts to lure Bybit and other crypto giants come as the UAE faces challenges, including recent attacks from Iran, prompting an exodus of residents and tourists. The UK government aims to capitalize on this opportunity to win back businesses and investment, with Zhou stating that 'now is good timing' for the UK to make its move.
