Parasite Mining Pool Scores Its Second Bitcoin Block

A novel bitcoin mining pool, designed to challenge traditional pay-per-share and pure lottery models, has demonstrated the effectiveness of its hybrid approach. Parasite Pool recently mined block 945,601, marking its second successful block since its launch in April 2025, roughly 48 days after its initial block at #938,713 in late February. The block contained 7,398 transactions and earned 0.002 BTC in fees, with bitcoin trading at $76,213 at the time. This pool operates on a unique model, where the winning miner receives 1 BTC, and the remaining 2.125 BTC, plus fees, are distributed proportionally among all participants based on their shares submitted since the previous block. Participation in the pool is free, and payouts are made through the Lightning Network. The pool's founder, ZK Shark, aims to support home miners, offering an alternative to industrial-scale operations. By splitting the block reward, Parasite Pool provides a steady flow of satoshis to participants, even during periods between block discoveries. The pool's hashrate currently stands at 52 petahashes per second, accounting for approximately 0.005% of the bitcoin network's estimated 1-zetahash hashrate. With its second block, Parasite Pool has validated its proportional distribution mechanics, and a third block within the next two months would further solidify its hybrid model.
