Bitcoin Bull Run Gains Momentum with Nearly $1 Billion in ETF Inflows Amid DeFi Uncertainty

Despite recent Iran-related news and DeFi hacks, market trends suggest a positive outlook for bitcoin, currently trading at $77,314.33. U.S.-listed spot ETFs saw significant inflows of $663 million on Friday, reaching a total of $996 million for the week, according to SoSoValue data. This surge in institutional investment indicates strong demand for the cryptocurrency. For a substantial price increase, sustained inflows are necessary. Timothy Misir, head of research at BRN, notes that consistent ETF flow regimes are crucial, as they signify structural demand, whereas intermittent flows indicate tactical positioning. Bitcoin's price has remained relatively stable above $75,000 after reaching highs of over $78,000 on Friday. Similar stability is observed in other major tokens such as ether, XRP, and Solana. The DeFi platform Aave's AAVE token has experienced a 1% drop to $90 due to the KelpDAO hack, while the DeFi dominance rate remains at around 3%. Alex Kuptsikevich, chief market analyst at FxPro, attributes the pressure on bitcoin to negative stock market reactions to Iran news, reducing risk appetite. However, this has created potential for a breakout, which has not yet materialized. Traders are actively building short positions, potentially setting the stage for a 'short squeeze' if prices remain steady, forcing traders to cover their bearish bets and driving spot prices higher. The U.S. attack on an Iranian cargo ship has further impacted market sentiment. In technical analysis, Solana's weekly price swings show a critical level at $95.16, which has acted as resistance since early February. The failure to surpass this level indicates sustained bearish sentiment, with potential for deeper losses. A strong move above this level, backed by increased trading volumes, is needed to reverse the bearish outlook.
