DeFi Leaders Unite to Support Aave Users After Massive Crypto Hack
The DeFi community has come together in an unprecedented show of support for Aave users affected by the recent Kelp DAO exploit. Aave, one of the largest lending protocols in DeFi, has been at the forefront of the recovery efforts, with a broad coalition of industry leaders committing significant capital and credit to the cause. Dubbed 'DeFi United,' the effort has raised over $303 million in commitments, with much of the capital still pending governance approval. The exploit, which had a ripple effect on rsETH markets and created risk across lending positions on Aave, has prompted a coordinated industry response. According to an Aave Labs spokesperson, 'There's a shared priority around supporting users and restoring normal market conditions.' Aave itself is at the core of the effort, with a governance proposal outlining a plan to allocate up to 250,000 ETH as part of the recovery. Other contributors, including Consensys, Sharplink, and Lido, have also stepped in to support the effort. The response has extended beyond Aave, with smaller contributions coming from across the community. The breadth of participation highlights the widespread impact of the exploit across DeFi and underscores the importance of coordination and cooperation in times of crisis.
