CEO of Alchemy Claims Crypto Was Designed for AI, Not Humans
The current financial system was not designed with machines in mind, but rather around human limitations such as geographic location, sleep patterns, and physical presence. However, as AI agents start to participate in the economy, this human-centric design is becoming a hindrance, according to Alchemy co-founder Nikil Viswanathan. He argues that cryptocurrency was actually built for AI agents, not humans. The traditional financial system is filled with limitations, such as banking hours and payment systems tied to specific countries, which are based on human needs. In contrast, AI agents do not require rest, have no physical presence, and can conduct transactions online. Viswanathan believes that cryptocurrency is well-suited for AI agents, as it provides a global, always-on financial layer that allows for seamless transactions across borders. He also notes that the complexity of cryptocurrency, which can be a challenge for humans, is actually a strength when it comes to AI agents, as they can operate natively in code. As AI agents become more prevalent, Viswanathan envisions a future where they will manage complexity, handle transactions, and optimize capital flows in real-time, making it easier for people to control their funds. This would result in a more global, programmable, and autonomous financial system.
