Bitcoin's Bullish Outlook Gains Momentum with Nearly $1 Billion in ETF Inflows Amid DeFi Concerns
The current market trends suggest a positive outlook for bitcoin, trading at $76,678.01, despite being overshadowed by Iran-related news and DeFi security breaches. U.S.-based spot ETFs attracted $663 million in investments on Friday, marking the highest inflow since January 15, with total weekly inflows reaching $996 million, up from $786 million the previous week, according to SoSoValue data. This significant influx indicates robust institutional interest in the largest cryptocurrency. For a substantial price surge to occur, sustained investment trends are crucial. According to Timothy Misir, head of research at BRN, 'Consistency in ETF flow regimes is more important than magnitude, as it signals structural demand versus tactical positioning.' Bitcoin's price has remained relatively stable above $75,000 after reaching highs of over $78,000 on Friday, mirroring the price patterns of other major tokens like ether, XRP, and Solana. The AAVE token of DeFi platform Aave dropped 1% to $90 following the KelpDAO hack, while the DeFi dominance rate has remained steady at around 3%. Alex Kuptsikevich, FxPro's chief market analyst, noted that the pressure on bitcoin is linked to negative stock market reactions to Iran news, reducing risk appetite. Meanwhile, traders are actively building short positions, which could lead to a 'short squeeze' if prices remain stable, potentially driving spot prices higher. The U.S. attack on an Iranian cargo ship has further impacted market sentiment. In technical analysis, Solana's weekly price swings indicate a key level at $95.16, which has acted as resistance since February. The sustained bearish sentiment and potential for deeper losses are highlighted by Solana's failure to climb back above this level, with the next major support seen at $50. A strong move above this level, backed by increased trading volumes, is necessary to invalidate the bearish outlook.
