The upgrade includes a redesigned architecture focusing on enhanced privacy, security, and usability. New features comprise account-based identity, multi-key support, and recovery mechanisms. A dedicated World ID app is also being introduced, allowing users to manage their credentials and authenticate across various platforms. The company has announced partnerships with several platforms, including Tinder, Zoom, and Docusign, to embed its identity layer and provide a 'verified human' badge. The project's 'Orb' devices play a crucial role in establishing proof of humanity by scanning users' faces and irises to generate a unique cryptographic code. This code is then used to confirm the user's identity without revealing personal data. The World ID system has sparked both interest and criticism, with some raising concerns over the use of biometric scanning.
