US Army Green Beret Arrested for Allegedly Betting on Venezuela Raid

The defendant, Gannon Ken Van Dyke, is accused of unlawful use of confidential government information, theft, and fraud. According to the indictment, Van Dyke created a Polymarket account and placed multiple bets on the outcome of the operation, including whether US forces would land in Venezuela and remove President Nicolas Maduro. The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission is also pursuing an insider trading complaint against Van Dyke. The case has sparked comments from US President Donald Trump, who expressed disapproval of the use of confidential information for betting purposes.
