Bitcoin Surpasses Crucial Threshold Ahead of Warsh Hearing

Bitcoin is currently trading with a bullish trend above the $75,000 mark, a level previously identified by CoinDesk as crucial for maintaining control. However, some analysts are advising caution, emphasizing the need for prices to remain above this threshold through Wednesday, when the U.S.-Iran ceasefire is set to expire. According to Marex analysts, 'The market must consider two possible paths: an extension and de-escalation, or renewed escalation and oil price stress, which is why, despite bitcoin's strength, the market can still experience rapid changes. This is a case of headline risk with a timer.' An escalation could push oil prices above the March high of $119, potentially causing Asian and global equity markets to decline sharply. It remains to be seen whether bitcoin will continue to show resilience or come under pressure along with the broader market, as it did during the March conflict when it remained relatively stable around $70,000. As of the latest update, no Iranian delegation has departed for talks in Pakistan, and on Monday, President Donald Trump warned of a significant escalation in the conflict if the ceasefire ends without a deal. Another key event on the analysts' radar is Kevin Warsh's nomination hearing for Federal Reserve chair, scheduled for Tuesday. Warsh is known for his 'inflation hawk' stance, having opposed interest-rate cuts and quantitative easing following the 2008 crash. His remarks during the hearing could act as a near-term catalyst, particularly if they reinforce expectations of policy easing, as noted by QCP Capital. In the broader market, major cryptocurrencies such as ether, solana, and XRP have seen less than 2% growth over the past 24 hours, underperforming bitcoin. Smaller tokens like XLM and TON have risen by more than 5% each, while the CoinDesk Memecoin Index is up over 3%. The DeFi Select Index has added 2%, a surprising development given the industry-wide fallout from the weekend's KelpDAO hack, which saw the attacker drain rsETH, a widely used liquid restaking token. Decentralized lender Aave has been significantly affected, with the total value of crypto assets locked on its platform falling to $16 billion, down nearly $10 billion since before the hack. Aave's native token, AAVE, has declined 18% to $93 since the hack, while open interest in futures tied to the token has hit a record high of 3.59 million tokens, indicating potential for increased volatility ahead.
