Bitcoin Community Condemns Proposal to Split Blockchain and Reassign Satoshi's Coins

Veteran Bitcoin developer Paul Sztorc has proposed a radical plan to create a new version of the blockchain, called eCash, which would involve copying Bitcoin's code and launching a separate network in August. Existing bitcoin holders would receive equivalent tokens on the new network for free. However, the plan to reassign coins linked to Bitcoin's founder, Satoshi Nakamoto, has been met with fierce criticism from the community, with many calling it theft. The proposed hard fork would create a new chain with its own rules, features, and token, and would include a scaling architecture called Drivechains, which would allow for the seamless movement of BTC between the main chain and sidechains. The community is concerned that the plan sets a dangerous precedent and could put everyone's BTC holdings at risk.
