Cardano Developer Seeks Reduced Funding of $46.8 Million to Enhance Scalability and Integrate Bitcoin DeFi

The company behind the Cardano blockchain, Input Output, is seeking approximately half of the funding it requested in the previous year from the project's community treasury. This reduction is part of a plan to decrease dependency on community funds and transition towards self-sustainability. The submitted proposals, totaling $46.8 million, focus on enhancing Cardano's scalability and expanding its presence in Bitcoin DeFi. Key proposals include the Leios consensus upgrade, which aims to increase transaction processing capacity, and the Pogun system, designed to integrate Bitcoin-based decentralized finance into Cardano. Smaller proposals focus on performance improvements, security testing, and developer tools. The voting process, which involves roughly 1,000 elected delegates, will determine the allocation of funds and test the project's governance. The outcome will signal the community's willingness to support Input Output and its plans for the future.
