US Army Green Beret Arrested for Allegedly Betting on Venezuela Raid

Master Sergeant Gannon Ken Van Dyke, a member of the elite US Army Special Forces, also known as the Green Berets, has been charged with unlawfully using confidential government information for personal gain, theft of non-public government information, and fraud. According to the indictment, Van Dyke created a Polymarket account and placed 13 bets totaling $33,000 on the outcome of the Venezuela raid, winning approximately $400,000. The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission is also pursuing an insider trading complaint against Van Dyke. The case has sparked concerns about national security and the use of confidential information for personal gain. Van Dyke allegedly attempted to conceal his identity and activities by changing his email address and asking Polymarket to delete his account. The US President has also weighed in on the issue, expressing concerns about the use of confidential information for betting purposes.
