Bitcoin Trades Above Crucial Level as Markets Await Warsh Hearing
Bitcoin is currently trading with a positive outlook above the $75,000 threshold, a level previously identified by CoinDesk as crucial for maintaining bullish momentum. However, some analysts are advising caution, emphasizing the need for prices to remain above this level through Wednesday, when the US-Iran ceasefire is scheduled to expire. According to analysts at Marex, the market is pricing in two potential paths: an extension and de-escalation of the conflict, or a renewed escalation and increased oil prices. This uncertainty could lead to significant market volatility. An escalation of the conflict could drive oil prices above $119, potentially causing a downturn in Asian and global equity markets. The question remains whether Bitcoin will continue to show resilience or come under pressure along with the broader market. As of now, no Iranian delegation has departed for the talks in Pakistan, and on Monday, President Donald Trump warned of a major escalation if the ceasefire ends without a deal. Another key event on the horizon is Kevin Warsh's nomination hearing for Federal Reserve chair, scheduled for Tuesday. Warsh is known for his hawkish stance on inflation and has opposed interest-rate cuts and quantitative easing in the past. His remarks during the hearing could significantly impact the markets. In the broader cryptocurrency market, major coins such as Ether, Solana, and XRP have seen modest gains of less than 2% over the past 24 hours, underperforming Bitcoin. Smaller tokens like XLM and TON have seen more significant gains, exceeding 5% each. The CoinDesk Memecoin Index has also risen by over 3%. Notably, the DeFi Select Index has added 2%, despite the recent hack of KelpDAO, which saw the attacker drain rsETH, a widely used liquid restaking token. Decentralized lender Aave has been significantly affected, with the total value of crypto assets locked on its platform falling to $16 billion, down nearly $10 billion since before the hack. Aave's native token, AAVE, has declined 18% to $93 since the hack, while open interest in futures tied to the token has hit a record high, indicating potential for increased volatility.
