Crypto Designed for AI Agents, Not Humans, According to Alchemy CEO
The modern financial system has been built around human limitations, such as geographical constraints, sleep patterns, and physical presence. However, with the emergence of AI agents as economic participants, this human-centric design is becoming a hindrance. According to Nikil Viswanathan, co-founder of Alchemy, 'crypto was built for AI agents, not humans.' The traditional financial system is based on human needs, with banks operating during specific hours and payments tied to countries. In contrast, AI agents operate globally, without sleep or physical presence, and require seamless transactions. Viswanathan argues that cryptocurrency offers a native infrastructure for AI agents, enabling them to transact efficiently across borders. The complexity of cryptocurrency, which has long been a challenge for humans, is actually a strength for machines. As AI agents begin to operate natively in code, they can interact with cryptocurrency seamlessly. Viswanathan compares this shift to the transition from the postal system to the internet, where communication became faster and more efficient. In the future, AI agents will sit on top of crypto infrastructure, handling complexity and managing transactions, allowing for a more global, programmable, and autonomous financial system. This will enable people to control their funds more easily, with AI agents operating finance in the same way that computers operate the internet.
