Parasite Mining Pool Strikes Again, Finds Second Bitcoin Block
A revolutionary bitcoin mining pool, Parasite Pool, has successfully mined its second block, block 945,601, approximately 48 days after its first block at #938,713. This achievement demonstrates the effectiveness of its hybrid model, which combines elements of both the industrial pay-per-share and pure lottery approaches. The block, containing 7,398 transactions and 0.002 BTC in fees, was mined on Friday morning when bitcoin was trading at $76,213. The pool's unique model awards the winning miner 1 BTC and distributes the remaining 2.125 BTC plus fees proportionally among all participants based on their shares submitted since the previous block. With no fees to participate and payouts routed through the Lightning Network, Parasite Pool offers an attractive alternative to traditional mining models. The pool's hashrate currently stands at 52 petahashes per second, accounting for roughly 0.005% of the bitcoin network's estimated 1-zetahash hashrate. As the first pool to test a hybrid split at this scale, Parasite Pool's success could pave the way for a new era in bitcoin mining, providing a more equitable distribution of rewards among participants.
