Bitcoin Bull Run Gains Momentum with $1 Billion Influx in ETFs Amid DeFi Concerns

Despite Iran-related news and DeFi security breaches making headlines, market trends continue to favor a bullish outlook for bitcoin, currently trading at $77,366.40. Last week, U.S.-listed spot ETFs saw a significant influx of $996 million, with $663 million coming in on Friday alone, indicating strong institutional investment in the cryptocurrency. For a substantial price increase to occur, this trend must be sustained. According to Timothy Misir, head of research at BRN, consistent ETF inflows signal structural demand, whereas intermittent flows suggest tactical positioning. Bitcoin has been trading steadily above $75,000 after reaching highs of over $78,000 on Friday. Other major tokens like ether, XRP, and Solana have shown similar patterns. The DeFi platform Aave's token dropped 1% to $90 following the KelpDAO hack, with the DeFi dominance rate remaining stable at around 3%. Analyst Alex Kuptsikevich attributes the current pressure on bitcoin to negative stock market reactions to Iran news, reducing risk appetite. However, this has built potential for a breakout. Traders are actively building short positions, which could lead to a 'short squeeze' if prices remain steady, potentially driving spot prices higher. The U.S. seizure of an Iranian cargo ship has also impacted market sentiment. In technical analysis, Solana's failure to surpass the $95.16 level for 11 consecutive weeks indicates sustained bearish sentiment and potential for further losses. A strong move above this level, supported by increased trading volumes, is necessary to invalidate the bearish outlook.
