Bitcoin Surpasses Crucial Threshold Ahead of Warsh Nomination Hearing

Bitcoin is currently trading above $75,000, a level previously identified as crucial for the bulls to maintain control, with a value of $77,641.88. However, observers are advising caution as prices must remain above this threshold through Wednesday, when the U.S.-Iran ceasefire is set to expire. Analysts warn that the market must consider two potential paths: the extension and de-escalation of the conflict, or its renewal and the associated oil price stress. This 'headline risk with a timer' could lead to rapid price fluctuations, even with bitcoin showing strength. An escalation of the conflict could push oil prices above $119, potentially destabilizing Asian and global equity markets. The question remains whether bitcoin will retain its resilience or succumb to broader market pressures, having held steady around $70,000 during the March conflict. As of now, no Iranian delegation has departed for talks in Pakistan, and President Donald Trump has warned of a significant escalation if the ceasefire ends without an agreement. Additionally, Kevin Warsh's nomination hearing for Federal Reserve chair is scheduled for Tuesday. Warsh, known for his 'inflation hawk' stance, opposed interest-rate cuts and quantitative easing after the 2008 crash. His remarks during the hearing could act as a near-term market catalyst, particularly if they reinforce expectations of policy easing. Major cryptocurrencies like ether, solana, and XRP have seen less than 2% growth over the past 24 hours, underperforming bitcoin. However, smaller tokens such as XLM and TON have risen by over 5% each, with the CoinDesk Memecoin Index increasing by over 3%. The DeFi Select Index has added 2%, despite the industry-wide fallout from the weekend's KelpDAO hack, which saw the attacker drain rsETH, a widely used liquid restaking token. Decentralized lender Aave has been significantly impacted, with its total value of locked crypto assets falling to $16 billion, a drop of nearly $10 billion since the hack. Aave's native token, AAVE, has declined 18% to $93, while open interest in futures tied to the token has hit a record high, pointing to potential increased volatility. In terms of trends, XRP remains below both its 100-day average price and the prolonged bear market trendline, indicating weaker momentum compared to bitcoin and ether, which have established firmer bullish structures.
