Parasite Mining Pool Strikes Again with Second Bitcoin Block
A revolutionary Bitcoin mining pool, Parasite Pool, has successfully mined its second block, block 945,601, on Friday, about 48 days after its first block at #938,713. This pool operates on a distinct hybrid model that differs from mainstream mining pools. When a block is solved, the winning miner receives 1 BTC, and the remaining 2.125 BTC, along with fees, are distributed proportionally among all pool participants based on their shares submitted since the previous block. Notably, there are no fees to participate in this pool, and payouts are made through the Lightning Network. The pool's design aims to provide a more equitable distribution of rewards, addressing the issue of industrial-scale mining operations dominating the competition. Founded by ZK Shark, the creator of Ordinal Maxi Biz, an NFT collection on Bitcoin, Parasite targets home miners and offers an alternative to traditional mining pools. The pool's hashrate currently stands at 52 petahashes per second, accounting for roughly 0.005% of Bitcoin's estimated network hashrate. With its second block, Parasite has demonstrated the effectiveness of its hybrid model, which preserves the lottery aspect of mining while providing consistent rewards to participants. As the pool continues to operate, its ability to retain hashrate and attract participants will be crucial in determining the success of its innovative approach.
