Ethereum Co-Founder Warns of AI Control Risks by Big Tech Firms

The next significant turning point for crypto is expected to come from artificial intelligence, according to Joseph Lubin, CEO of Consensys and co-founder of Ethereum. In a recent interview, Lubin emphasized the potential of autonomous agents to interact and transact on decentralized networks, utilizing crypto as the foundation for machine-driven activities. While acknowledging the risks associated with AI infrastructure being controlled by a few large tech firms, Lubin stressed the importance of decentralized systems and cryptography in ensuring accountability and transparency. He also discussed the evolution of products like MetaMask, which is being rebuilt as a user-owned and controlled neobank, and the rise of corporate chains on Ethereum. Additionally, Lubin touched on the growth of stablecoins and tokenization, predicting a convergence of traditional and decentralized finance. He downplayed the long-term risks of quantum computing, stating that Ethereum developers have been preparing for this eventuality as part of the network's natural evolution.
