Bitcoin Holds Above Crucial Level as Market Awaits Warsh Hearing
Bitcoin is currently trading with a positive trend above the $75,000 threshold, a level previously identified by CoinDesk as critical for bulls to maintain their grip on the market. However, some analysts are advising caution, emphasizing the need for prices to remain above this level through Wednesday, when the US-Iran ceasefire is set to expire. According to analysts at Marex, the market is pricing in two possible scenarios: an extension and de-escalation of the conflict, or a renewal of escalation and increased oil prices. This uncertainty could lead to significant market volatility. An escalation of the conflict could push oil prices above the March high of $119, potentially causing a downturn in Asian and global equity markets. It remains to be seen whether bitcoin will continue to show resilience in the face of market uncertainty, as it did during the March conflict when it held steady around $70,000. As of the latest update, no Iranian delegation has departed for talks in Pakistan, and President Donald Trump has warned of a major escalation if the ceasefire ends without a deal. Another key event on the horizon is the nomination hearing for Federal Reserve Chair, Kevin Warsh, scheduled for Tuesday. Warsh is known for his hawkish stance on inflation and has previously opposed interest-rate cuts and quantitative easing. His remarks during the hearing could have a significant impact on the market, particularly if they reinforce expectations of policy easing. In the broader cryptocurrency market, major coins such as ether, solana, and XRP have seen modest gains of less than 2% over the past 24 hours, underperforming bitcoin. However, smaller tokens like XLM and TON have seen more significant increases of over 5% each. The CoinDesk Memecoin Index has also risen by over 3%. Notably, the DeFi Select Index has added 2%, despite the recent hack of KelpDAO, which saw the attacker drain rsETH, a widely used liquid restaking token. Decentralized lender Aave has been particularly affected, with the total value of crypto assets locked on its platform falling to $16 billion, down nearly $10 billion since before the hack. Aave's native token, AAVE, has declined 18% to $93, while open interest in futures tied to the token has hit a record high, potentially indicating increased volatility ahead.
