Bitcoin Holds Above Crucial Level as Market Awaits Warsh Hearing and US-Iran Ceasefire Deadline

Bitcoin is trading positively above $75,000, a threshold CoinDesk identified as vital for bulls to maintain control. However, observers urge caution as prices must hold above this level through Wednesday, when the US-Iran ceasefire is set to expire. Analysts at Marex noted that the market must price in two possible paths - extension and de-escalation or renewed escalation and oil stress - which could lead to rapid price gaps due to headline risk. An escalation could push oil prices above $119, potentially negatively impacting Asian and global equity markets. It remains to be seen if bitcoin will remain resilient or come under pressure. As of now, no Iranian delegation has departed for talks in Pakistan, and President Donald Trump has warned of a major escalation if the ceasefire ends without a deal. Kevin Warsh's nomination hearing for Federal Reserve chair is also on analysts' radar, scheduled for Tuesday. Warsh, known as an 'inflation hawk,' opposed interest-rate cuts and quantitative easing after the 2008 crash. His remarks could act as a near-term catalyst, particularly if they reinforce expectations of policy easing. Major cryptocurrencies like ether, solana, and XRP have risen less than 2% in the past 24 hours, underperforming bitcoin. Smaller tokens such as XLM and TON have seen gains of over 5% each, with the CoinDesk Memecoin Index up over 3%. The DeFi Select Index added 2%, despite the industry-wide fallout from the KelpDAO hack, which saw the attacker drain rsETH, a liquid restaking token used as collateral on several DeFi platforms. Aave, a decentralized lender, has taken a significant hit, with its total value of crypto assets locked falling to $16 billion, down nearly $10 billion since before the hack. Aave's native token, AAVE, has declined 18% to $93 since the hack, while open interest in futures tied to the token hit a record high, pointing to potential volatility ahead.
