Parasite Pool Achieves Second Bitcoin Block, Validating Hybrid Mining Model

A pioneering Bitcoin mining pool, Parasite Pool, has demonstrated the effectiveness of its innovative design by mining its second block. This achievement comes about 48 days after the pool's first block and showcases a hybrid model that differs from traditional pay-per-share and pure lottery approaches. The pool's second block, number 945,601, was mined on Friday and contained 7,398 transactions, along with 0.002 BTC in fees, at a time when Bitcoin was trading at $76,213. The winning miner received 1 BTC, while the remaining 2.125 BTC and fees were distributed proportionally among all pool participants based on their shares since the previous block. This model has no fees for participation and utilizes the Lightning Network for payouts. By offering a hybrid approach, Parasite Pool aims to provide a more equitable and sustainable mining experience, particularly for home miners. The pool's founder, ZK Shark, is also the creator of the Ordinal Maxi Biz NFT collection on Bitcoin. With a current hashrate of 52 petahashes per second, Parasite Pool is testing the viability of its model, which could potentially change the landscape of Bitcoin mining. The pool's ability to retain hashrate and achieve a second block within a relatively short period is a significant validation of its approach, and a third block within the next two months could solidify its position as a viable alternative to traditional mining models.
