Parasite Mining Pool Strikes Bitcoin Again, Proving Hybrid Model's Effectiveness
A novel bitcoin mining pool, Parasite Pool, has successfully mined its second block, demonstrating the viability of its innovative hybrid model. This approach diverges from traditional pay-per-share and pure lottery systems. The pool's second block, number 945,601, was mined on Friday, roughly 48 days after its first block at #938,713 in late February, and included 7,398 transactions with 0.002 BTC in fees. The winning miner received 1 BTC, while the remaining 2.125 BTC and fees were proportionally distributed among all pool participants based on their contributed shares since the previous block. Notably, participation in this pool incurs no fees, and payouts are facilitated through the Lightning Network. The pool's design aims to address the variance in block discovery, allowing home miners to contribute and receive rewards. Founded by ZK Shark, the creator of the Ordinal Maxi Biz NFT collection, Parasite Pool targets home miners and offers a unique solution to the challenges faced by smaller-scale mining operations. The pool's hashrate currently stands at 52 petahashes per second, and its proportional distribution mechanics have been validated through two rounds of block discovery. A third block within the next two months would further solidify the effectiveness of Parasite's hybrid model.
