US Army Green Beret Arrested for Allegedly Using Confidential Information to Bet on Venezuela Raid

The US Department of Justice has arrested a master sergeant in the US Army, Gannon Ken Van Dyke, for allegedly using confidential government information to place bets on a raid in Venezuela that he was involved in. According to the indictment, Van Dyke used his knowledge of the forthcoming raid to place $33,000 in bets on Polymarket, winning around $400,000. The DOJ alleges that Van Dyke violated the trust placed in him by the US government by using classified information for personal gain. The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission is also pursuing an insider trading complaint against Van Dyke. The case has sparked comments from US President Donald Trump, who expressed his disapproval of the use of confidential information for betting purposes.
