Bitcoin Sees Significant Inflows as DeFi Concerns Linger
Despite recent global events and DeFi security breaches making headlines, the bitcoin market remains bullish, with BTC currently trading at $78,089.75. Notably, U.S.-listed spot ETFs saw an influx of $663 million on Friday, totaling $996 million for the week, indicating robust institutional investment in the cryptocurrency. For a substantial price increase to materialize, this trend must persist. According to Timothy Misir, head of research at BRN, consistent ETF inflows signify structural demand, while intermittent flows suggest tactical positioning. Bitcoin's price has stabilized above $75,000 after reaching highs over $78,000 on Friday. Similar stability is observed in other major tokens like ether, XRP, and Solana. However, the AAVE token has dropped 1% to $90 due to the KelpDAO hack's collateral damage on the DeFi platform Aave. The DeFi dominance rate remains steady at around 3%. Analysts attribute the pressure on bitcoin to negative stock market reactions to Iran-related news, which has reduced risk appetite. Meanwhile, traders are building short positions, anticipating a potential 'short squeeze' if prices remain steady, which could push spot prices higher. The latest reports of the U.S. seizing an Iranian cargo ship have added to market tensions. In technical analysis, Solana's inability to surpass the $95.16 level for 11 consecutive weeks indicates sustained bearish sentiment and potential for further losses. A significant move above this level, supported by increased trading volumes, is necessary to counter the bearish outlook.
