Cardano Founder Claims Bitcoin's Quantum Solution is a Hard Fork That Won't Save Satoshi's Coins

Cardano's Charles Hoskinson has expressed concerns over Bitcoin's proposed defense against quantum computers, stating that it is both technically inaccurate and structurally flawed. He claims that the plan, known as BIP-361, would require a hard fork, rather than a soft fork, as it would invalidate existing signature schemes. Hoskinson argues that this approach would not be able to rescue roughly 1.7 million bitcoins created before 2013, including those attributed to Satoshi Nakamoto, due to their use of a different key derivation method. He also criticizes Bitcoin's lack of formal on-chain governance, which he believes hinders the network's ability to resolve tradeoffs through a structured process.
