Parasite Mining Pool Strikes Gold Again with Second BTC Block

A revolutionary bitcoin mining pool, designed to challenge traditional models, has achieved a significant milestone by mining its second block. Parasite Pool, which was launched in April 2025, mined block 945,601 on Friday, approximately 48 days after its first block at #938,713 in late February. The block contained 7,398 transactions and 0.002 BTC in fees, with bitcoin trading at $76,213 at the time. This innovative pool operates on a hybrid model, where the winning miner receives 1 BTC, and the remaining 2.125 BTC plus fees are distributed proportionally among all pool participants based on shares submitted since the previous block. With no fees to participate and payouts routed through the Lightning Network, Parasite Pool is an attractive option for home miners. The pool's founder, ZK Shark, aims to provide a more equitable mining experience, and the second block mined by the pool validates the effectiveness of its design. The competition in the mining space is dominated by industrial operators, but Parasite Pool's approach has sparked interest, particularly among home miners. The pool's hashrate currently stands at 52 petahashes per second, and a third block mined within the next two months would further solidify the case for Parasite's hybrid model.
