Bitcoin Holds Above Crucial Level as Markets Await Warsh Hearing

Bitcoin is currently trading with a positive trend above the $75,000 threshold, a level previously identified by CoinDesk as crucial for the bulls to maintain their grip on the market. However, observers are advising caution, emphasizing the need for prices to remain above this level through Wednesday, when the U.S.-Iran ceasefire is set to expire. Analysts at Marex noted, "The ceasefire's expiration and the market's need to price in potential paths - extension and de-escalation versus escalation and oil stress - could lead to rapid price movements, given the headline risk and its timer." An escalation could significantly increase oil prices, potentially beyond the March high of $119, and negatively impact Asian and global equity markets. The resilience of bitcoin, which remained relatively stable around $70,000 during the March conflict, is being questioned. As of the latest update, no Iranian delegation had departed for talks in Pakistan, and President Donald Trump has warned of a major escalation if the ceasefire ends without an agreement. The upcoming nomination hearing for Federal Reserve Chair, Kevin Warsh, is also under scrutiny. Warsh, known for his stance as an "inflation hawk," could influence markets with his remarks, particularly if they reinforce expectations of policy easing, according to QCP Capital. In the broader cryptocurrency market, major players like ether, solana, and XRP have seen less than a 2% increase over the past 24 hours, underperforming bitcoin. However, smaller tokens such as XLM and TON have experienced gains of over 5% each, and the CoinDesk Memecoin Index is up by more than 3%. Notably, the DeFi Select Index has added 2%, despite the industry-wide impact of the KelpDAO hack over the weekend, which saw the attacker drain rsETH, a widely used liquid restaking token. Decentralized lender Aave has been significantly affected, with its total value of locked crypto assets falling to $16 billion, a decline of nearly $10 billion since before the hack. Aave's native token, AAVE, has dropped 18% to $93 following the hack, while open interest in futures tied to the token has reached a record high, indicating potential for increased volatility.
